About Fellpack House
Our team is a diverse group of fantastic people, hailing from right here in Keswick to as far away as South America. What unites us all is our deep love for this incredible place we call home; it’s what brought us to Fellpack, and it’s why we love sharing it with you.
Whether you’re chatting with our friendly front-of-house team or crossing paths with our housekeeping crew, we’re all here to make your stay an unforgettable one.
We can’t wait to welcome you!
Our Ethos
Our purpose is simple. We celebrate Lake District adventures.
Ever since opening our first site in Keswick in June 2017, a small restaurant on Lake Road, this has been our defining purpose.
We have celebrated everything from Bob Graham Rounds to those going round Derwentwater (a classic!). We have cheered people’s first-ever fell climbed or those summiting their final Wainwright to complete the full 214. We have laughed and empathised in equal measure at the stories of battling horizontal rain, zero visibility, winds that require crawling to stay safe and navigational nightmares.
See, the thing is, once you have started exploring the Lake District, learning its eccentricities and challenges, nowhere else comes close. Like life should be, the Lake District is one beautiful adventure.

How the Business Began
When you grow up in the Lake District, it’s easy to take your surroundings for granted. So, it wasn't a complete surprise when we stumbled upon a blog post about the Bob Graham Round and realised we had never even heard of it. Yet, we were instantly hooked. 70 miles and the equivalent height of Mt. Everest, all in a single day? It seemed impossible. But at just 3 miles per hour... maybe.
Research led to route reconnaissance, to careful navigational plotting and then finally completing the Round just inside 24 hours. The rediscovery of the joys of where we grew up left us satisfied but not sated. We wanted to share the enjoyment we had found with others and celebrate their successes and failures with them. So, we decided to create Fellpack.
Our Philosophy
We are a business built on people based in a location where very few people live but one that is very popular for visitors. As such, we don’t think of ourselves as a hospitality business in the purist sense, easily able to replace one manager for the next. Instead, we think of ourselves more like a school. Most people pass through, whether as teenagers, university undergraduates or those wanting a year spent in the mountains. All working hard, often extremely talented, but likely to leave. Yet some stay, join our senior teams and become teachers.
We focus on using our hospitality training to develop workplace-ready skills for people as it is the perfect practice ground to focus on product excellence, confidence in communicating and to understand how to take responsibility and leadership whilst being part of a team. As well, we offer an array of career support to ensure the transition from studying to work isn’t too daunting.
This methodology allows us to always be thinking about the development of people, a recognition that we are always recruiting at the junior end of the team and a way to frame how our senior team function to ensure that these roles feel like proper career choices.
Careers
If you like what we do and are interested in having a chat about possible roles within our company, then please get in touch.
We rarely advertise and instead prefer to hire through our network. As such, the best thing to do is introduce yourself as we have a great variety of positions available. So, whether you are a student, someone looking for a part-time job, a career change or career progression, then we’d enjoy talking with you.
