For those not in the know, the Keswick Mountain Festival is an annual jamboree of running events, great food & drink and live music, held on the shores of Derwent Water. A weekend full of fun that captures the essence of why we choose to live here and why so many people come and visit each year.
Yet, for the first time we wanted to not just go to the festival ourselves but also share some of what we do with those attending. So, we decided to launch the Fellpack Chilli Truck, selling loaded chilli fries and sloppy joes (chilli in a bun) from a 23 foot long van.
Never nervous to give something a go, we had to learn the best way to try and pull this off without a truck (they are actually quite easy to rent!) or any knowledge of catering festivals amidst the height of summer busyness. Some excellent last minute planning got us to the ball on time and the truck opened as the festival began midday on Friday.
By the time we finished late on Saturday night, more than 500 portions of chilli later, we were tired but we had a great time. Bring on next year!
